NATION IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Town Braces for Spring Break Hordes

Battle plans were drawn as Daytona Beach, Fla., prepared for the annual invasion of 400,000 college students. The city’s Spring Break Festival Task Force, formed after severe problems developed last year and police made 1,200 alcohol-related arrests, has created 1,000 new parking spaces near the beach and has more carefully scheduled events to lessen the impact of the crowds. Laws also will be more strictly enforced.
