NEED TO KNOW: Orange County is at the forefront of efforts to combat AIDS in the Latino community (E1), with good cause. . . . As of Jan. 31, 12.2% of the county’s AIDS cases were Latinos, and of 807 AIDS deaths, 94 were Latino. . . . “I think we have an excellent outreach program,” said county AIDS coordinator Penny Weismuller, adding that a photographic comic book about AIDS in Spanish that was produced in the county is now used statewide.
