Festivals to Swap New Works: Three of the top U.S. summer music festivals have announced plans to premiere and swap chamber music works from three leading American composers. The project will begin this summer with a work by Ned Rorem, which will premiere at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival in New Mexico, followed by performances at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Ill., and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The following summer, Ravinia will premiere a composition from John Harbison that will later go to the two other festivals. In the summer of 1992, a work by Jacob Druckman will originate at Saratoga before going to the other two sites.
