Richard J. Pearson, president and chief operating officer of Avery International Corp., Pasadena, has announced his retirement effective July 1, 1990. Meanwhile, Philip M. Neal has been named executive vice president, effective April 1. Neal, 49, will be responsible for the direction and coordination of Avery’s worldwide operations. Neal has been group vice president-materials U.S. Pearson’s retirement caps an Avery career that spans three decades. Pearson, who will turn 65 in June, joined the company in 1960 as director of marketing for the U.S. label converting operations.
