MOORPARK : Lawrason to Run in 1st Mayoral Race
- Share via
Moorpark Mayor Paul Lawrason said Tuesday he plans to run against a fellow councilman in November when the city elects its first mayor.
Lawrason said he will form a campaign committee to meet the July 15 filing deadline. He was elected to the City Council in 1988.
The race for the city’s top elected post also has attracted Councilman Clint Harper. Harper informed the Fair Political Practices Commission last week that he plans to establish a campaign committee.
Harper, one of two council members whose terms end in November, said he does not plan to accept money from developers in his bid for mayor. He spent less than $2,000 when he ran for a council seat in 1986.
