A 29-year-old man was killed Wednesday and eight other people were injured when an RTD bus crashed into a car, forcing it into a second vehicle on a Chinatown street, authorities said.
The car’s unidentified driver was pronounced dead at the scene at Hill and Bernard streets. Two occupants of the second car suffered critical injuries and were taken to County-USC and White Memorial medical centers, Los Angeles City fire officials said. Six bus passengers had minor injuries, officials said.
The accident occurred at 6:30 p.m. when an RTD bus southbound on the Pasadena Freeway broadsided the first car, which was attempting to make an illegal left turn near the Hill Street exit ramp, police said. The car then went out of control, striking the third vehicle.
