RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — A 5-month-old boy in the northeastern city of Salvador in nameless because a judge refused to register him as “Rambo,” the newspaper O Globo reported Friday.
The boy’s father, Miraldo de Moura Eugenio, is a fan of the U.S. movie character and promised to name his first son Rambo, the paper said.
But Judge Luis Fernando Brito refused to register the name, citing a Brazilian law that prohibits parents from giving children exotic names that might cause them embarrassment in the future, O Globo said.
The paper said the boy’s mother suggested that as a compromise the boy be name Sylvester Stallone, the actor who plays Rambo. No decision was announced.
