ORANGE : Parents Needed for Graduation Chores

Parents whose children attend El Modena High School are needed to help build the background sets for the school’s graduation night June 14.
The effort to build half a dozen facades that depict the graduation theme, “Around the World in 90 Days,” is part of the first large-scale community campaign to allow graduating seniors a drug- and alcohol-free grad night, said Bonnie Paymar, coordinator for El Modena Grad Night 1990.
“We’re trying to get as many parents together, including sophomore, junior and alumni parents, to work,” she said.
More than $20,000 has been donated to help pay for construction materials and provide food and entertainment for the students, she said. The final set will include several ethnic “villages,” including a French cafe with a Monte Carlo-style casino.
“These kids are going to get super entertainment and at the same time we’re working to protect them,” Paymar said.
