Although I am a Catholic, Cardinal O’Connor’s excommunication threat to New York Catholic pro-choice politicians makes it abundantly clear to me why the Protestant majority in Northern Ireland refuse to become a minority under the Catholic Church-dominated Republic of Ireland’s government.
