WORLD IN BRIEF : LEBANON : Israeli Planes Hit Palestinian Bases

Israeli warplanes blasted Palestinian guerrilla bases in Syrian-policed eastern and northern Lebanon, wounding at least eight guerrillas, Lebanese police said. The Israeli military confirmed that it had raided two bases and said its planes returned safely. The targets of both attacks were bases of the Libyan-backed, Damascus-based Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command, led by Ahmed Jibril. The Israeli military said that the two bases had been used to launch attacks on Israel.
