SWIMMING : Biondi Upset Again by Rudolph

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Nils Rudolph of East Germany stole the spotlight from American Olympian Matt Biondi for the second day in a row, beating him in the 100-meter freestyle Sunday at the Santa Clara Invitational swim meet.
Rudolph, whose time of 51.06 seconds set a meet record, had beaten Biondi and world record-holder Tom Jager in the men’s 50-meter freestyle Saturday.
In another upset, Stanford-bound Summer Sanders of Roseville, Calif., beat Michelle Von Kotze of Australia and Janet Evans of Placentia, Calif., triple gold medalist in the 1988 Olympics, Sunday in the women’s 200-meter individual medley. Sanders’ time was a meet-record 2:17.79.
