PLUNGE: Orange County public companies got carried along in the wave of selloffs that left the Dow off by 56.44 points (A1). Among local issues, at least 56 closed down, including Medstone, Tokos Medical, Helionetics Inc. and Rainbow Technologies--all of which lost about 10% of their value. There was some swimming against the tide, as nine local companies closed up slightly for the day, including Ropak Corp. and Bridgford Foods.
