The Nemeth javelin will remain legal during 1991, and world records set by Steve Backley and Jan Zelezny with it this year will be recognized, officials of the International Amateur Athletic Federation said.
The IAAF, the world governing body of track and field, said the future of the Nemeth would be determined at the 1992 IAAF Congress in Tokyo. The group’s technical committee has recommendation that the Nemeth be outlawed.
