GO TO JAIL: Zau-Nan Chen was not the only Taiwanese democracy supporter from Orange County who had a tough time visiting the island last spring (A1). . . . When Fountain Valley engineer Ching-chiang Kuo wanted to return for his father’s funeral in May, he was denied a visa despite the intervention of Rep. Christopher Cox (R-Newport Beach). “Just go to the funeral from the airport and from the funeral back to the airport and wait for the next flight,” says Kuo. “That’s all I asked for. And they said no.”
