IMF Suspends Argentine Loan

BUENOS AIRES — International Monetary Fund has suspended payment of a $245-million loan to Argentina because the government failed to achieve promised economic reforms during the third quarter, the financial newspaper El Cronista Comercial reported today.
Argentina did not accomplish adequate cuts in its inflation rate, and the government’s fiscal surplus for the period turned out to be lower than promised.
