County’s $10 Million for Canyon Land Purchase Challenged
- Share via
Recently, I thought I read that Orange County was in such bad economic shape that it was reducing vital services for the poor, the sick and the homeless.
Obviously, I was wrong because in this morning’s paper (“County Takes a New Path to Save Canyon,” Sept. 24), our county supervisors found $2 million extra a year for the next five years to buy Laguna Canyon.
I have two problems in connection with this action:
1. If the city of Laguna Beach can’t afford to buy the property, then why can’t the Irvine Co. develop its land the way it wanted?
Why get the rest of us taxpayers involved in this?
2. Where is the money for parks in Costa Mesa, Santa Ana and Buena Park? Isn’t it only right that they get a fair share of the money too?
