Aluminum Co. of America: Alcoa said third-quarter profit declined nearly 43% to $125 million on revenue of $2.7 billion, which was off 5.6% from 1989. The Pittsburgh-based aluminum company said the figures reflect lower earnings from its Brazilian operations, a decrease in orders for some fabricated products, lower aluminum prices and unfavorable currency-exchange adjustments of $10.9 million.
