Home Sales Drop: An uncertain economy and concern about the Persian Gulf crisis pushed home sales down 8% last month to the lowest level since January, 1988, the National Assn. of Realtors said. In its monthly report, the group said September’s sale of existing single-family homes was 3.22 million units, down from the revised August pace of 3.5 million. In January 1988, home resales totaled 3.20 million. The California Assn. of Realtors reported that September home resales were down 10.7% from August.
