Video Gifts to Servicemen

More celebrities than families of military personnel turned out Saturday to record Christmas messages to soldiers, sailors and Marines serving in the Persian Gulf region. Free personal messages were taped by International Video Productions, an L.A. production house. Only three families showed up during the first six hours of taping; their messages will be mailed to their family member. But eight television actors stood before a homey-looking Christmas backdrop to offer their holiday wishes. One of those offering holiday greetings was actor Gary Busey, who said he is personally opposed to the U.S. intervention. “But we have young guys there serving for freedom of expression, nature and life. To me, that equates to two words: World peace.” Free taping will be offered today from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 12401 W. Olympic Blvd.
