COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Pauley Scores 16 but Injures Ankle in Cypress Victory

Eric Pauley scored 16 points but left the game in the second half because of an ankle injury in Cypress College’s 100-63 victory over Pima College of Arizona in the first round of the Cypress Thoroughbred Tournament Thursday.
Pauley, a 6-foot-10 sophomore center, was eight for 10 shooting before he twisted his right ankle. He is doubtful for the rest of the tournament, which ends Saturday.
Chris Bowen and Flip Banks had 12 points each and Brian Kenney and Charles Lockhart had 10 each for Cypress (2-0), which shot 65% (40 for 61) from the field.
Jim Waikle, a 7-foot-1 center, scored eight points, had six rebounds and had six blocks for Cypress.
Cypress had a 10-0 lead before Pima (0-1) scored. Pima got as close as seven, but Cypress opened a 52-32 lead at the half.
