Hart Beats Los Alamitos in Overtime, 13-10

SAUGUS — Hart High squandered three first-half scoring chances and needed an overtime field goal to beat Los Alamitos, 13-10, Friday night in a first-round Southern Section Division III playoff game.

Brady Vilensky made the winning 27-yard kick after Hart blocked a Los Alamitos field-goal attempt in the tiebreaker.

Hart will meet El Modena, a 31-0 winner over Culver City, in the second round next weekend.

Hart quarterback Ryan Connors completed 14 of 37 passes for 184 yards. Running back Scott Blanchard gained 99 yards in 11 carries before injuring his neck in the third quarter.

Los Alamitos’ Eric Wallace forced overtime on a 27-yard field goal with 1:45 left after Vilensky’s 23-yarder made it 10-7.
