SHORT TAKES : Actress Halts Penthouse Sale

HONG KONG — Chinese actress Joan Chen got an interim court order to halt further distribution of the Hong Kong edition of Penthouse magazine that features her as the cover girl, her lawyer said Wednesday.
Pictures of the 29-year-old actress fully clothed in the latest issue of the magazine were not pornographic but she “just doesn’t want to be associated with such a publication,” Gordon Oldham said.
The High Court granted an injunction Tuesday to halt further distribution of the magazine, which went on sale Monday, pending a hearing Tuesday.
Chen, who was born in Shanghai and lives in Los Angeles, starred in the films “Taipan” and “The Last Emperor.” She has a television role in “Twin Peaks.”
