Magnolia’s Middle Weights Too Much for Laguna Hills

Eighth-ranked Magnolia High School dominated the middle weight classes to beat No. 5 Laguna Hills, 39-28, in a nonleague wrestling match Wednesday at Laguna Hills.
In nonleague boys’ soccer:
Mater Dei 2, Damien 1--Chris Campbell and Trevor Ikes scored goals to lead the Monarchs (4-2) at Damien.
Newport Harbor 1, Santa Margarita 0--Shane Perluss scored for Newport Beach (6-1).
Woodbridge 6, Irvine 0--Jason Szczuka scored three goals, John Szczuka scored two and John Holland scored one for Woodbridge (4-3). Jim Wambolt had six saves for Woodbridge.
Ocean View 2, La Quinta 0--Chris Martin and Jorge Zamora scored for visiting Ocean View (3-1).
Sunny Hills 5, La Mirada 1--Enrico Pietrantonio, Brian Dewispelaere, Brent Howes, Matt Marino and Jason Fichtelberg scored for host Sunny Hills (3-3).
Villa Park 3, Troy 1--Justin Carrick, Ron Lou and Dave Szekeres scored to lead host Villa Park (5-0).
Katella 2, Magnolia 0--Jesse Santivanez and Danny Moreno scored for host Katella (5-1-1). Manuel Vargas had nine saves for Magnolia (2-3-0).
El Modena 2, Tustin 1--Jose Prado scored with 20 second left to lead host El Modena (2-0-1).
In girls’ nonleague soccer:
Edison 1, Capistrano Valley 0--Maili Williams scored in the first half for visiting Edison (2-1).
In the Brea-Olinda girls’ basketball tournament:
Brea-Olinda 64, Diamond Bar 39--Jinelle Williams scored 28 points and Lia Raff had 11 for Brea-Olinda (6-0).
El Toro 65, Foothill 27--Megan Rehwoldt scored 18 points and Dana Lind 17 to lead El Toro (3-2) in a second-round consolation game.
