A Thousand Oaks salesman of mail-order vitamins was released from Ventura County Jail on Sunday after he was arrested on suspicion of possession of illegal steroids for sale.
Lawrence Woods, 43, was released on his own recognizance, a jail official said. He is scheduled for arraignment at 8:30 a.m. Friday.
More than 250,000 doses of anabolic steroids were confiscated from Woods’ house in the 600 block of Shenandoah Street on Friday night in a raid by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Officials said it was the largest such seizure in the county and one of the largest in the state.
Also seized at Woods’ house was equipment suspected of being used in drug manufacturing, including a respirator, electronic scales and more than 800 empty bottles as well as four automatic handguns and $30,000 in cash.
