Baby Is Tossed 3 Stories to Safety During Fire

NEW YORK — A screaming mother holding her 4-month-old baby above flames in their burning Brooklyn apartment Monday tossed the child down three stories to passers-by, who caught the infant in a coat held as a safety net.
The mother was overcome by smoke and rescued by a fireman on a ladder.
