The University of Florida has canceled games against Miami in 1992 and beyond, saying the decision was forced on them because of Southeastern Conference adopted an eight-game league schedule, beginning in 1992. This move limited Florida’s flexibility in making a schedule. Florida will have to pay a $75,000 penalty for canceling game in 1992 and ’93.
Miami officials were miffed because, they said, they were never notified of Florida’s decision. “I was shocked to learn through the newspaper about the Florida series,” Athletic Director Sam Jankovich said.
