McIlvaine is Urged to Add, Not Subtract

Welcome to San Diego, Joe McIlvaine. The honeymoon is over.
As a lifetime Padres fan, I am writing to ask you to break the long-standing tradition of trading away the best players of our team. Trading Bip Roberts, Tony Gwynn or Greg Harris would only repeat the tragic mistakes of yesteryear in allowing the likes of Ozzie Smith, Ozzie Guillen, Kevin McReynolds, Kevin Mitchell, Dave Winfield, Mark Davis and Sandy and Roberto Alomar to get away.
I hope this list is long enough to persuade you to add instead of subtract to what could be a very fine team with a few free agents.
