Geothermal Energy Company Sues SCEcorp.: California Energy Co., a major geothermal energy producer, said it had filed a federal lawsuit accusing utility holding company SCEcorp of trying to drive it out of business. The suit, filed in San Francisco, seeks $780 million in damages from SCEcorp, subsidiaries Mission Energy, Mission Power and Southern California Edison, and investment bankers Kidder, Peabody & Co. The complaint alleges that the defendants conspired to drive California Energy out of business to thwart competition. Edison called the suit meritless.
