Trailing by two with 1:32 left, the University of San Diego women’s basketball team scored the final seven points to take a 77-72 West Coast Conference victory over visiting Gonzaga.
Down the stretch, Angie Straub (10 points, six assists) made a pair of free throws to tie the game, 72-72. Chris Enger, who finished with a team-high 18 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks, then made a shot from the top of the key to put the Toreras ahead for good.
USD, which won for the eighth time in nine games, improved to 11-9, 6-1 and remained a game behind first-place Santa Clara.
Gonzaga, which was led by Cheri Sharp (26 points) and Kay Koppelman (15 rebounds), fell to 7-13, 2-5.
