Three men suspected of using a toy sawed-off shotgun to rob grocery stores, a restaurant and a drugstore pleaded not guilty Monday during arraignment in Glendale Municipal Court.
William Ray Morgan, 31, of Tujunga; Thomas Matthew Davis, 26, of Glendale, and Samuel Singletary, 34, of La Crescenta were ordered to return to court Feb. 26 for a preliminary hearing on second-degree robbery charges, authorities said.
Glendale Police Detective John McKillop said the men are suspected of committing five holdups during February in the Glendale-Burbank area. He said Morgan and Singletary were arrested last week by Los Angeles sheriff’s deputies, who seized a toy shotgun during a search of the suspects’ car.
Glendale officers later arrested Davis after he was identified as the third suspect in the holdups, McKillop said.
