A 37-year-old man was stabbed five times when he fought off a group of teen-age boys attempting to steal his car, Oxnard police said Friday.
Raymond Duran of Oxnard was in fair condition at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Duran told police he was sitting in his car at the end of Gloria Court next to Del Sol Park about 10:30 p.m. Thursday when the attack occurred, police said.
Duran said he was drinking beer and watching a soccer game when five male juveniles approached his car and tried to take it away from him, Lt. Robert Kelley said. When Duran resisted, he was stabbed once in the eye, three times in his left arm and once in the chest.
Duran ran to a fire station about half a block away and was taken to the hospital, Kelley said.
There is no indication that the attack was gang-related, he said.
