Trabuco Hills 74, Brea-Olinda 69--The Mustangs (6-17) trailed 55-39, after three quarters but rallied for the victory at Brea-Olinda. Mickey Jimerson scored 14 points in the third quarter and Scott DuPar scored 12, 10 of which came on free throws. DuPar, who was 14 for 14 from the free-throw line, finished with 18 points and Jimerson scored 16. Mark Chiotti scored 12 points and Drew Hubbard 10 for Brea (10-16). Doug Yeo, the Wildcats’ center who averaged 16 points per game, was limited to three points.
La Serna 61, Sonora 47--Despite a game-high 19 points by Sonora’s Chris St. Clair, the Raiders (5-18) lost in the opening round.
La Serna, Whitmont League champion, was led in scoring by Glen Huggins who had 13 points, all in the first half. La Serna led, 21-13, at the end of the first quarter and increased their advantage to 36-25 at the break after Damon Johnson made a lay-up as time ran out.
