The threat of players filing suit and getting around a ban on this year’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament was a factor in letting unbeaten Nevada Las Vegas defend its title, said Southeastern Conference Commissioner Roy Kramer, a member of the NCAA infractions committee.
Kramer, emphasizing it was only a factor, said: “To say we did not discuss that in the total perspective of the decision would be false. But to say that was the absolute thing that swayed the final decision would not be true.”
