A computer-monitored irrigation system is being installed at the nine-hole Altadena Golf Course on Mendocino Street.
Work on the $350,000 improvement project began last week and will be completed in May. It was undertaken by DC Golf, the company that manages the county-owned golf course. The course will remain open during the work.
The improvements include installation of 700 sprinkler heads, 22 miles of pipe and 14 three-foot-high computerized control panels set in concrete and connected to a computer-operated monitoring system.
Key Turf & Irrigation Inc. of San Marcos designed the system that will enable the course to conserve water.
