HONG KONG: Companies operating from Hong Kong were among the most resilient in Asia in 1990, exhibiting growth and reporting strong earnings, despite the worldwide recession, according to Morgan Stanley. Its survey--”Performance of Asian Stocks in 1990”--lists 55 Hong Kong firms among its top 100 companies in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong and the Philippines. Many Hong Kong firms were successful because they diversified their investments throughout Asia, according to the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
