1,000 Students Riot When Police Halt Party

HARTFORD, Conn. — About 1,000 students at the University of Hartford rioted early Sunday when police stopped an unauthorized beer party, authorities said.
Students pelted police with rocks and beer bottles after spilling out of an on-campus apartment to the nearby common.
Seven police officers and nine students suffered cuts and bruises. Twelve students were arrested on charges of first-degree riot, breach of peace and interfering with police.
