Transamerica Fined for Rating Violations: Three Transamerica insurance companies were fined a total of $75,000 for rating and underwriting violations on commercial, general liability and workers compensation policies, the California Department of Insurance said. Sloppy underwriting practices at Transamerica Indemnity Co., Transamerica Insurance Co. and Transamerica Premier Insurance Co. resulted in office-to-office rate variations for the same coverage, according to the insurance department.
