Gastroenteritis Blamed for 119 Deaths in Nigeria

KANO, Nigeria — Public health officials said Monday that 119 people died of gastroenteritis in a weeklong outbreak, and 800 others were reported hospitalized. Officials said those who died waited too long to seek treatment of the disease, which rarely causes death if it is treated promptly.
