PREP BASKETBALL GIRLS’ STATE SOUTHERN REGIONAL : Erickson Leads Brea-Olinda to Victory

Freshman point guard Nicole Erickson scored 12 of her game-high 17 points in the first half to lead Brea-Olinda past visiting Bishop Montgomery, 55-38, in a Division II Southern Regional State tournament game Tuesday night.
The victory marked the third consecutive 30-victory season for Brea (30-1).
Forward Jody Anton scored 11 points for Brea and guard Katie Bauer added 10 off the bench for the Ladycats. Bishop (24-6) got nine points apiece from Lily Cabaleiro, Mirlen Martinez and Natalie Graham.
Bakersfield North 57, Irvine Woodbridge 47--After leading, 15-14, at the end of one quarter, Bakersfield North pulled away in the second half of a Division II game at Woodbridge.
Bakersfield (24-5) went to a man-to-man pressure defense and outscored Woodbridge, 12-6, in the second quarter and 18-6 in the third.
Senior guard Lorraine Ash led North with 15 points. Senior center Deanna Harry and senior guard Nicole Schwartz led Woodbridge (25-6) with 13 points each.
Palos Verdes 74, Fresno Christian 39--The top-seeded Sea Kings broke a close game open in the second quarter, outscoring Fresno Christian, 19-5, en route to a Division III victory at Palos Verdes.
Jeffra Gausepohl led Palos Verdes (29-2) with 18 points. Monique Morehouse and Krista Mulligan added 12 points each. Fresno Christian finished at 15-9.
Morro Bay 65, Corcoran 53--Sara Pierce scored 19 points, including four free throws, in the final two minutes to lead host Morro Bay (25-3) to a victory in Division IV.
Wendy Furlong had 18 points and 19 rebounds for Morro Bay. Nicole Albert scored 20 points for Corcoran (26-2).
