A 15-year-old boy who was shot in the head in his home while he and his best friend were looking at a gun was in critical condition Wednesday at Methodist Hospital in Arcadia, police said.
Detective Sharon Reynolds said Gerald Woods was shot once in the right forehead with his father’s gun, a .380 semiautomatic Colt. Woods and a 14-year-old friend, who was not identified because of his age, went to the victim’s home after leaving Foothill Junior High School on Tuesday, Reynolds said. She said the two were passing the gun back and forth and the 14-year-old was holding it when it fired. The boy ran across the street to the Arcadia Fire Department for help.
Police questioned the boy and released him to his parents. The shooting was ruled accidental and no charges will be filed, Woods said.
