Rancho Santiago and Columbia are seeded No. 1 for the South and the North, respectively, in the State Community College basketball tournament, which starts today with quarterfinal games at the Bren Center at UC Irvine.
Today’s games: 2 p.m.--Compton (27-6) vs. Chabot (24-7); 4 p.m.--Sequoias (22-11) vs. Long Beach (30-4); 6 p.m.--Cypress (25-10) vs. Columbia (31-4); 8 p.m.--Kings River (26-9) vs. Rancho Santiago (32-2).
