PREP ROUNDUP : Dana Hills Wins Showdown of Division 4-A Tennis Powers

Dana Hills, ranked No. 4 in the Southern Section Division 4-A poll, upset second-ranked Thousand Oaks, 12-6, in a nonleague boys’ tennis match at Dana Hills Wednesday.
Ben Stevens swept, 6-0, 7-6, 6-0, and Kurt Bruggeman swept, 6-0, 7-5, 6-0, for Dana Hills (2-0). The doubles team of Steen Lundblad and Todd Muellar won two of three match.
In other nonleague boys’ tennis:
University 18, Foothill 0--Joey Frantz won, 6-3, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles and Stephen Tze and Bryan Shapiro won, 6-0, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles for host University (2-0).
Esperanza 10, Canyon 8--Mike Hammer won, 7-6, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles for visiting Esperanza (3-0).
Loara 11, Western 7--Cameron Lindee swept, 7-5, 6-0, 6-0, for visiting Loara.
Fountain Valley 13, Irvine 5--Eddie Weiss swept his singles sets, 6-1, 6-0, 6-1, to lead Fountain Valley (3-0) at Irvine.
In nonleague boys’ volleyball:
Foothill 3, Santa Ana 1--Damian Kiritschenko had 24 kills as visiting Foothill (2-1) won, 15-8, 18-16, 14-16, 15-11.
Esperanza 3, Santiago 0--Jason Galeener had nine kills and Chris Pitzak had 19 assists and six aces for host Esperanza (3-0), a 15-8, 15-1, 15-6 winner.
Garden Grove 3, Canyon 0--Troy Davis had seven kills as host Garden Grove (1-2) won, 15-9, 15-3, 15-10.
Valencia 3, Antelope Valley 0--Dan Melia had 13 kills and three blocks and Doug Finnell had 30 assists, four kills and two blocks for host Valencia (2-0), which won, 15-11, 15-6, 15-7.
El Dorado 3, Villa Park 2--Coulter Marshall, Alex McNaughton and Joe Gerace each had 12 kills for host El Dorado (2-1), which won, 15-7, 13-15, 12-15, 15-4, 15-5.
