The 86-year-old owner of a Compton building supply company died Saturday of injuries from a beating, possibly by a burglar at his business, authorities said.
Charles Beckman of Lakewood died about 4:30 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center of Long Beach. He suffered blunt force trauma over his entire body and head, said Sheriff’s Deputy George Ducoulombier.
About 10:45 a.m., a passerby noticed Beckman lying in front of his business, Beckman Building Supply, at 19500 Alameda St. in Compton. The door was open and there were signs of a disturbance inside.
“A burglary may have occurred,” Ducoulombier said.
No one has been arrested.
