Los Angeles police were searching Thursday for burglars who broke into a Bullock’s department store in Sherman Oaks and stole more than $100,000 worth of jewelry.
An unknown number of burglars broke through the front glass doors of the store in the 1400 block of Riverside Drive between 9:45 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday. Detective Mel Arnold said the burglars smashed five jewelry cases and took dozens of watches and necklaces.
Arnold said the burglars appeared to know what they wanted, leaving other cases untouched.
“They recognized their jewelry, I guess,” Arnold said.
More expensive jewelry was locked in the store’s safe at the time of the burglary, Arnold said.
