HUNTINGTON BEACH — An 18-year-old La Palma man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a 17-year-old youth in the chest during a fight last month at the beach, police said.
Roland Paro was arrested Thursday without incident at his La Palma residence on suspicion of attempted murder, police said. He is being held on $500,000 bail at Huntington Beach City Jail.
On Feb. 24, Paro allegedly stabbed Kevin McQueiry of Buena Park several times in the chest with a 3-inch blade during a confrontation between two groups at Huntington City Beach, police said.
McQueiry was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange with a collapsed lung and other internal injuries. He has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home, police said.
The two groups apparently knew each other and were feuding, but police said there was no indication the fight was gang-related.
An investigation by Huntington Beach detectives led to an arrest warrant charging the suspect with attempted murder, a police spokesman said. No other details were released.
