Swiss Reportedly Reject Surgery on Korean Leader

GENEVA — Swiss heart specialists were asked to perform surgery on North Korean President Kim Il Sung, 79, but the Swiss government barred them from going to North Korea because it would violate strict legal limits on private practice by publicly employed doctors, a Geneva health official said Saturday.
However, North Korea’s observer mission to the United Nations in Geneva dismissed any suggestion that Kim needed surgery. “I can tell you my president is healthy,” deputy chief of mission Han Chang On said.
