Edward Yardeni, a well-known economist associated with the term “rolling recession,” is leaving one Wall Street firm to join another. Yardeni, 40, was named chief economist at C. J. Lawrence Inc., leaving Prudential Securities Inc. after nearly nine years. Yardeni, who also was named a managing director of the institutional brokerage firm, will replace Edward Hyman, who is resigning to start a money management and consulting firm.
Yardeni is known as an optimist on Wall Street about the economy and the stock market. He is praised for his economic analysis, writing and communications skills, and ability to help market financial products.
