From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A moderate earthquake registering magnitude 4.5 struck the San Francisco Bay Area Saturday night, rattling dishes and jangling nerves, but there were no reports of injuries. The 7:46 p.m. quake was centered about four miles northeast of Watsonville, about 70 miles south of San Francisco in the Santa Cruz Mountains, said Robert Uhrhammer, seismologist at the UC Berkeley Seismographic Station. Uhrhammer said the temblor was an aftershock from the devastating Oct. 17, 1989, Loma Prieta earthquake.
