COUNTYWIDE : Group to Lobby for Urban Counties
- Share via
A seven-county organization has been formed to lobby for increased funding for urban counties, Ventura County Supervisor Maggie Erickson Kildee announced Tuesday.
The Urban Counties Caucus was created with representatives from some of California’s most populous counties: Ventura, Santa Clara, Alameda, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Diego.
Jane Uitti, former consultant to the Senate Health and Human Services Committee in the state Legislature, will serve as executive director of the caucus. Kildee is vice chairwoman of the group.
The counties banded together because of frustration over diminishing and often disproportionate amounts of state funding that urban counties receive, Kildee said.
