Arden Group: The company, which operates 13 Gelson’s and Mayfair supermarkets in Southern California, posted net income of $1.7 million for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 29, down 29%. Sales totaled $82 million, a 4% decrease. For the year, the Los Angeles-based firm earned $11.5 million on sales of $331 million, down from a 1989 profit of $11.8 million on sales of $347 million.
